The Samruddha Bharat Foundation organised the National OBC Conclave at the Talkatora Stadium in New Delhi on December 21, 2021. This Conclave was organised to bring together politicians across party lines, experts, activists and community leaders. They collectively launched the Delhi Declaration was also launched to forge consensus on the caste census, sub-categorisation, reservations in promotions and other critical issues to further India’s social justice paradigm. SBF's fifth book in the Rethinking India series, "The Shudras: Vision for a New Path" was also launched at the Conclave.
Speakers from six parties & across sectors spoke at the event. These included Sharad Yadav (former union minister), Lalu Prasad Yadav (RJD President), Chhagan Bhujbal (NCP Cabinet Minister), D. Raja (CPI General Secretary), TKS Elangovan (DMK MP), Capt. Ajay Yadav (former Haryana Minister), Rajesh Lilothia (former MLA), Manikrao Thakre (former Mumbai PCC President), Madhu Yakshi Gaud (former Member of Parliament), Prof. Manoj Jha (RJD MP), Shyam S Yadav (BSP Member of Parliament), Rev Sunil Sardar (President, Satyashodhak Samaj), Prof. Dilip Mandal (former Managing Editor, Outlook Hindi), Dr. Arvind Kumar (Ast. Professor, Jamia Milia Islamia), Dr. Laxman Yadav (Ast. Professor, Zakir Hussain College), Prof. Kancha Ilaiah Shepherd (Director, Centre for Studies of Social Exclusion, Maulana National Urdu University), Pushparaj Deshpande (Director, Samruddha Bharat Foundation), etc.
This event brought together hundreds of academics, activists, journalists, bureaucrats, and politicians across party lines who are working on social justice issues. This Conclave was preceded by an extensive consultative process that lasted a few months where a host of issues that are of concern to OBCs, Dalits and Adivasis were fleshed out. These were collated in the Delhi Declaration that strives to creatively further India's social justice paradigm.
